UK Subs
Peel Sessions

Often derided by the Stalinist punk hardliners, The UK Subs of Stranglehold, Tomorrow's Girls and C.I.D. made a brash vibrant racket, and in Charlie Harper they had a cuddly punk Lionel Blair for the ' 70s.
The Peel Sessions capture his band in its crinkly infancy, the songs rough-and-ready variations on the well -thumbed three-chord punk attack, terrace-chant vocals spinning headlong to the end of each chorus in a hyperventilating rush.
The band's formative R&B background occasionally peeps over the punk parapets, but mainly this is classic second division English punk rock.
