ROCK OF AGES:

The UK Subs blew through New York City recently, with Nicky Garratt having this to say while scanning the graffiti-obscured walls of ancient CBGB's:
"You know, I bet if you could erase the top layer of names you'd find 'The Ramones were here', and if you could erase that layer you might find 'Marc Bolan was here', and under that 'The Beatles were here', and under that 'Bill Haley was here', and beneath that layer if you kept on going you'd find 'Beethoven was here', and then under that 'Bach was here', and beneath that ' Charlie Harper was here'!"

One of the highlights of the Subs' three-night, two-sets-a-night stand at CBGB's was Garratt's unbelievable acrobatics, which one night included playing 'CID' dangling upside-down from a lighting pole, Nicky swinging precariously by his knees and actually hitting the notes while defying gravity at the same time!
Another high-point was a new number, the first Subs' song entirely written and sung by guitarist Garratt, a slow 'Countdown'-like burner called 'The Enemy Awaits', with a lead guitar line supplied by Charlie Harper!
